Outer Range can only be described as a mishmash-genre series that trails off the beaten path and leads you into a mystic realm of '*What* did I just watch?' Amazon Prime Video's new Western-sci-fi hybrid, starring Marvel's Josh Brolin, sees ranch hand Royal Abbott (played by Brolin himself) embroiled in the supernatural when an otherworldly void opens up in the middle of his family ranch. Things take even more of an unexpected turn when he agrees to let a mysterious hippie, Autumn Rivers (Imogen Poots) camp on his land, and she begins her cryptic probing into his life. This isn't great timing considering Royal has now been tasked with covering up the murder of neighboring ranch hand Trevor Tillerson (Matt Lauria), after a punch-up with his son Perry (Tom Pelphrey) became fatal.

The show already had fans' brains in mind-melt mode and honestly, is it any wonder? The void – in which Royal dumped the body – turned out to be a portal through time, Trevor's dead body is unceremoniously spat out, and there's something a little off about that Autumn. Despite all the chaos – and the local sheriff sniffing around the Abbott ranch for justice – it's Autumn who's got fans talking.

The off-beat backpacker has found herself at the centre of plenty of speculation, with some fan theories suggesting that she may in fact be Royal's granddaughter Amy (Olive Abercrombie) from the future. Well, they do have the same piercing blue eyes. 'Poppycock!', you may be tempted to cry – but this theory could very well turn out to be true. Outer Range creator Brian Watkins seems to be setting up this big reveal, judging by a trail of clues he's left behind. After all, we are dealing with time travel here. Anything is possible.

The first thing that probably needs clarification before delving deeper into this theory is why adult Amy would return from the future and pretend not to know her own family? But what if she isn't pretending? It's possible she genuinely does not know who they are. During one of her many cryptic talks with Royal, Autumn admits that she, like him, is missing time and doesn't remember anything before the age of nine. Coincidentally, Amy is nine years old in the series.

All of the big streaming platforms have fascinating new movies and shows out on streaming this weekend, so let’s highlight one from each! Over on Amazon Prime Video, George Clooney is directing a new drama film, The Tender Bar, starring Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan. Hulu is teaching an amazing history lesson this weekend through ABC’s new historical drama series, The Women of the Movement. Last, but certainly not least, is the season 2 premiere of the hit HBO Max series, Euphoria. We have been waiting for this one for a while, and the dark teen drama is ready to pay off!
