Guys, welcome back to my channel! If you are viewing this video, Ally, you likely have an interest in, are considering, or have already utilised access. You are interested in the experiences of others, whereas I have a short existence. Since I recently decided to transfer from Access, Ally to a poda — I have a separate video describing poda and my reasons for making the switch — I’m going to provide a brief evaluation and, more importantly, my personal experience with it. And why that platform, but specifically here, I’ll explain why I’m no longer choosing access ally after using them for years. Before proceeding, I am thus interested in hearing from you. Permit me to first provide some context regarding why I decided to quit utilising Access Ally as the platform for hosting my quarters. It initially worked when I’ve been using them for a while, probably three or four years. I was not interested in the actual course hosting platforms when I initially began using Access Ally since I desired a more personalised solution. I wanted something where when people go to my URL, my actual site, it looks super branded, gorgeous, and that’s what I wanted, so I hired someone to design this custom built members area for me and the only thing that I knew, well, there are a lot of different plugins you could use, but Access Ally was the best one out of all of the ones that I saw in terms of customization and doing a lot of things like gamification and just a lot of things that I was interested in.

Specifically, because I was designing a course that would be highly individualised for each student, it initially functioned brilliantly. I liked how it appeared once it was designed, and by the way, the design doesn’t cost very much. Initially, I was pleased. You know, I was like, okay. Well, I wanted everyone to have a wonderful time.

I wanted to be branded, and there were many things I believed I needed to have in order to be taken seriously, and it initially worked well. However, I rapidly became aware of a few things that I found somewhat bothersome. I eventually made the decision to change because I could no longer tolerate it. I was becoming far too irritated by it. The first issue I had with it was that, while the website might be made lovely if the correct developer and designer were hired, the problem arises when you have anything custom produced, particularly with the frameworks that my designer used.

I truly respect independence and not being dependent on a designer or a developer or having to have someone on retainer all the time. I couldn’t change anything about it without ruining it. It just didn’t make sense. For me. I was averse to having to pay someone. I used to pay someone $2,000 a month just to be on call in case I had Ashley-like issues with accessing Ally or if I wanted to have something uploaded to access Ally, which is a tonne of money, if you think about it, because I could do it myself, because I’m pretty tech-savvy, but the way that the website was designed, I had to pay someone to do it for me.

It was created with the notion of progress in mind, yet it is exceedingly intricate. I ruined it multiple times while attempting to update it myself, and it wasn’t particularly evident. I enjoyed how it appeared at first, as did the folks who were initially signing on after purchasing my courses. They were awestruck because it was like, “Wow, that’s a completely custom-created site.” Actually, I think you’re so great that a lot of people are stating that they want their courses to resemble mine because of the entire experience.

But they had no idea what was going on behind the scenes, namely that I had to hire someone every time I needed to change the appearance of my web pages or whenever the site was broken, the video dimensions were displaying incorrectly, or the links were broken, because I had no idea how to set anything up.

So, if I wanted to build a new course, for instance, it took me a while to figure out how to do so, and I needed to put on my developer hat, which I do not possess. One of them contains It’s simply not a skill that I possess, therefore no. I spent a lot of money getting these things figured out, and yes, it’s kind of shocking that I stayed with them for as long as I did; but, you should take no offence if you act as if you’re monitoring access out. I enjoy nothing against.

You are just like That’s perfectly OK. I simply did not want to pay someone to do everything. The second issue for me was that I had to pay a number of additional services in order for this website to operate correctly. Therefore, I needed a premium subscription to Vimeo, a video hosting website, because I will not.

Put it on YouTube immediately because others can simply save it. YouTube is not an option for paid courses, so I needed to get Vimeo, which is, however, much a year and that’s not a huge deal, but having to upload the video first and then grabbing the link and ensuring that the settings are correct, even figuring out how to upload it to this WordPress site and having somewhere else like Dropbox or something similar to host the files. Even if you could also host them in WordPress, hosting parties in the beginning required a great deal of additional time and effort. In addition, you will need to pay for website hosting and ensure you are familiar with WordPress. It was simply a lot of extra fees, and when I was moving my business, especially right now, I was really trying to make my firm function as lean as possible.

Therefore, I can scale, generate substantially more money, and raise my profitability, right? What good is it to make a lot of money if you’re going to spend the majority of it? I do not wish to handle my business in such a manner. Therefore, I intended to abandon SoundCloud, Vimeo, and all the other services. I simply did not want them to be a part of my course distribution system. I still use those platforms as a backup because I already have a subscription, but I really like that I don’t have to visit all of these extra sites because doing so would just slow down the process for me. There were just a lot more extra stages with the current platform I’m using and with ISO I that made the entire process from idea to people seeing it just a lot more difficult. Filming, editing, creating the video, and finally posting simplified things for me. The third issue I was having was that my Infusionsoft connectivity was frequently failing when I moved to ActiveCampaign and accessed Ally. It wasn’t being shot properly.

I suppose—and it was becoming increasingly inconvenient as students continued to enrol in my courses. Because I had Excel set up for the integration, when someone purchased one of my digital things, they would receive a login email from me. However, the password box was empty for10%, if not15%, of the individuals who were signing up at the time they received the access email. Consequently, you can imagine how many issues I had with customer service as a result. People are now emailing me with the subject “Hey, what the heck, I didn’t get the password when I signed up.” Some people are currently outraged because they have paid for this item but do not have access to it. Imagine purchasing a course if you’ve never purchased a course or digital good before and receiving it with the thought, “Oh well, where’s?”

How am I supposed to use the password to access this? I had to respond to each person. I had an online assistant. I executed the similar operation, which required me to log into the backend. We went over the integration once more, and I just didn’t want to spend the extra time and be so tech smart when I was paying this much for a membership.

The plug-in for the member’s area is already acquainted to you. The fourth reason, which is still related to the integration, is that the tagging capability did not always perform the same way. Active campaign or Infusionsoft was not communicating effectively with a WordPress and Access ally for some reason. Therefore, on occasion, when someone is enrolled in my course, it will be accessed via a specific tagging function, the access that Ally has, informing you that the student has finished every assignment in a lesson. Therefore, the next lesson should unlock automatically. This is how I designed the gamification elements, however they did not always work.

I wanted a course to be really cool and functional for me so that I could provide a wonderful experience for my consumers, and it used to work nearly every time.

And it led to an increase in customer service difficulties.

Hellos were being exchanged. I did everything you instructed. I don’t understand.

Why am I like the next thing that unlocked? I’m not sure. What do I do? What should we change? I need it to go back into the backend, discover this user, and manually add a tag into access Ally within WordPress.

It was the same as before; I had more headaches and performed more tasks. I simply had no interest in her. So I eventually thought, Oh my gosh. I just feel like I’m done with it.

I simply do not want to deal with it. The fifth issue arose as I was transferring from one platform to another, and I needed to export a CSV file of all the customers with tags within WordPress so that I knew who had access to what. Because when individuals buy something, notably Infusionsoft, they get added to my Infusionsoft list. But then I’d wipe the list out, and when Infusionsoft and someone unsubscribed—and you know, I’m like, okay, I’m going to clean out all the unsubscribes so I don’t have to pay for all the unsubscribes—I’d clean the list out. Some of these persons were no longer on my soft list for infusions, but they still had access to the software.

The problem is that I couldn’t export a CSV file of all the customers’ names, emails, and what access they had to which course, which I thought was kind of strange, because if it’s a course platform, we should be able to see who has access to what within access ally, but, as I said, access ally does not do this. Therefore, if someone else describes it, you will not need to purge the email list. You can still retain those individuals without paying for them if you have an active campaign. However, Infusionsoft disapproves of this. So, if you use Infusionsoft, you must pay for everyone, whether they are unsubscribed or subscribed. If you wish to move in the future, send another email, or simply determine who has registered to which course, you cannot do it through your email marketing programme.

It creates an odd situation because you’re like, “How do I do it?” Last but not least, it’s a little pricy. I realise it’s not outrageous; there are certainly more expensive options out there, but given the troubles I was having, I just didn’t think it was worth the money. My intention is not to criticise the software; it is possible that it is achievable. I simply did not. I just didn’t see the value anymore, and with my own custom site, I wanted to keep things leaner, so you may have a great experience with Access Ally, and I know a lot of folks whose sites are incredibly well-designed and work well with Access Ally. So, once again, I’m not claiming that everyone will have problems here.

I’m just saying that this is why I decided to switch, because I was just like, “I’m over it, and I don’t want to do this anymore,” and I wanted to keep my staff and finances as small as possible. By the way, if you’re wondering what software I ended up utilising, I’m currently using Poda. Access Ally is obviously not terrible, thus it would be unfair for me to imply that it is. It possessed numerous great qualities. So I’d want to share with you the three things I liked most about it, which is why I stayed so long. Creating a bespoke, aesthetically pleasing website is obviously the most valuable benefit.

If that’s what you want to create in your business, then I wanted just that. I desired a truly stunning, custom-designed website. That appeared brand-new to me, and you know, it worked incredibly well until it didn’t. Therefore, if you are seeking access, Ally could be a great fit.
