It's hard not lớn feel that Switzerland have been under-rated for Sunday's Nations League third-place play-off.

They produced a vibrant performance in the semi-finals against Portugal on Wednesday but somehow managed to lose 3-1 - their failure to take their chances being punished heavily by the finishing expertise of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Until Ronaldo's two brilliant late strikes, it's fair lớn say that it was the Swiss' star man, Xherdan Shaqiri, who had looked the best soccer tips of the day on the pitch. He found space seemingly at will and backed that up with some top-notch distribution.

He received strong support - at the back Fabian Schar was his usual assured self - but they lacked in finishing department.

Maybe that will prove their undoing again but Shaqiri will be relishing the chance lớn shine against some of his Liverpool team-mates, especially given the lack of game-time he saw at Anfield over the course of the season.

Tired England

That could actually work in his favour now. He certainly looked fresh against the Portuguese and the Swiss will also have had an extra day of rest ahead of this game.

England also played extra time in their semi-final as they lost 3-1 lớn the Netherlands after which Gareth Southgate spoke a lot about "fatigue".

While he was essentially trying lớn find a reason for his side's shocking defensive display, it was difficult not lớn argue that England looked a little jaded.

They led for a long period, only thanks lớn an awful defensive error by the Dutch it has to be said, but they faded as the game wore on, particularly in the extra period.

Swiss value

Having so many players involved in last weekend's Champions League final didn't help - Southgate left several stars out of his starting XI and plenty of changes can be expected for this one. Harry Kane and Jordan Henderson look likely lớn return but the former isn't 100 per cent fit right now, while you wonder if this tournament is really a case of 'after the Lord Mayor's show' for Henderson and his victorious Liverpool team-mates.

You can question the motivation levels of both sides heading into this one - it's the final game of a long season for both - but the evidence put forward this week suggests Switzerland are a value bet at 3.60 to win the match.
