Spider-Man: Homecoming introduced Scorpion's threat to Peter Parker, but Spider-Man: No Way Home voided any potential danger Scorpion could pose.

The ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home severely impacted a potential future plotline set up by the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming. After Peter Parker (Tom Holland) defeats his first villain, the Vulture (Michael Keaton), in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the post-credits scene shows the Vulture in prison. He encounters another famous Spider-Man villain, Scorpion (Michael Mando), who reveals that he wants revenge on Spider-Man. Scorpion tries to get the name of Spider-Man’s alter ego from the Vulture, but the Vulture does not share the name, potentially to protect Peter Parker until he can get revenge himself.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, however, the chaos wrought by an out-of-control spell forces Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to cast a spell making everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. This spell has emotional stakes for Peter and his friends, but it completely eliminates the stakes set up by Spider-Man: Homecoming’s post-credits scene. Making Spider-Man’s true identity a secure secret again renders the Spider-Man: Homecoming post-credits scene completely meaningless and hurts the chances of ever seeing the Scorpion as a main villain in the MCU.
